Bowls SA is one of the larger, not-for-profit sporting organisations in terms of its participating numbers, both competitively and recreationally, servicing the South Australian community through it's system of 230 clubs in the metropolitan and country areas.
In September 2003, a historic decision was taken to bring the two separate men's RSABA and women's SAWBA associations together to form Bowls SA. This was a first for lawn bowls in Australia and required the development of new Governance Structure and the Bowls SA Strategic Plan 2004-2007.
The culture of the sport is changing with many more younger people being introduced to the game through schools and Bowls SA development programs aswell as community programs such as 'Get on the Green with Night Owls'.
