Description
Bobbi Thompson has been addicted to art since she was a young child. Her love of painting started at an early age. She was inspired by her father who made his living as a professional artist and gallery owner in Santa Barbara. While most children grew up with dolls and trucks, her toys were pastels and paints. Her love of recreating the Disney animal scenes, would later in life, lead to a job offer by the Disney studios. In addition to her art training as a youth, she also majored in art at Riverside College as well as other schools in Southern California. She credits the late Dale Gehrman for inspiring her to look beyond the surface to capture natures inner beauty on canvas.
Retired illustrator of the San Francisco Chronicle and well known artist and friend, Warren Goodrich, described Bobbi's garden scenes as having a calming, ethereal quality. Bobbi paints exclusively in oils and works out of her studio in Lincoln City, Oregon. She has several commissioned pieces hanging in public buildings, professional offices, as well as private collections throughout the United States and Canada.
My paintings depict a love of romanticism. I have a passion to portray the sea in its many moods as well as enchanting picturesque gardens. I'm constantly awed by the beauty of the tints and hues in a glowing sunset or the endless kaleidoscope of colors that make up the petals of a flower or the leaves of a tree. Imitating nature's palette is a labor of love and a source of inspiration.
