When microcomputers came on the scene in 1977 Andy Stephens was there—first with the purchase of an Apple II+, and then later as the manager of a department responsible for the sale of microcomputers to banks and the development of software for the banking industry. His interest in microcomputers grew and he became a senior trainer on microcomputers and applications for banks as well as internal personnel. Later he was responsible for building and training a five person team on a project requiring the installation and training on 3,500 PC's for a Fortune 100 company. Andy has been using Macintosh computers and involved with Apple since 1987 in various programs, including Apple Authorized Product Representative, Apple Demo Days, Apple Developers Program, Apple Multimedia Program, Apple Solution Experts and Apple Consultants Network.
Andy has been on the grid since early 1993 when he and Betsy used the net for e-mail while Betsy was attending graduate school at the University of South Carolina. Being no stranger to computers and communication—he was a charter member of AOL back when it was known as Quantum Computer Services—Andy took to the Internet like a duck to water. He has been using the World Wide Web and learning Internet technologies since 1994, shortly after the birth of the web.
