Blogs of Zion is an on-line forum for Zionists from across the ideological and social spectrum to decipher, develop and debate issues affecting the Jewish people around the world.
Blogs of Zion is inspired by the phenomenon that existed at the turn of the twentieth century, when young Jews would congregate in coffee shops and parks across the globe to discuss the future of the Jewish people. These discussions were not brought on by crisis of danger but by crisis of plenty; Stefan Zweig, a popular novelist at the time, termed it the "Age of Security," when Jews were freer than they had ever been across the world, both in Ashkenaz and Sepharad. In Poland, Austria-Hungary, Paris, Morocco, Iraq, and Cairo, Jews met and argued. They wrote, published, read and reviewed—and created a fertile intellectual community that produced a multitude of paths for the Jewish people, some religious, some economic and some political. All of which contributed to the revolution in Jewish life that has influenced our collective path ever since.
