Description
Lloyd's artistic photographs of natural history subjects (mostly birds) have appeared in Australian Geographic, Geo Australasia, Nature Australia and internationally through Oxford Scientific Films. Photography takes a back seat nowadays as he concentrates his energies into creating unique regional field guides which offer a fresh, new approach to the way books of this genre are presented. His popular book Birds of Queensland's Wet Tropics and Great Barrier Reef, which he wrote and illustrated, was the first to combine a field guide and site guide in one book. It was also the first Australian book of its kind to include accommodation and travel information.
In 2002 Lloyd published the first edition of his Birding Australia, a directory of Australian birding, which he now publishes in two editions. Birding Australia is well received both here and abroad.
His award-winning booklet Daintree - Jewel of Tropical North Queensland remains the publication of choice for visitors to this world-heritage region in north-eastern Queensland.
