My name is Bill Cagle and I've been keeping and breeding snakes for over 30 years. I have been specializing in boas for over 20 years. My main concentration these days are Peruvians, Brazilian Redtails, as well as Bolivian and Brazilian Amarali. I have acquired and produced some of the finest Peruvians and Brazilians in the world. I have one of the largest and most diverse Peruvian collections in the hobby today. I strive to keep only the best, and purchased my breeding stock from the most respected and reputable breeders in the country. I feel that keeping the localities pure is a very important aspect and one of my main goals. Like almost everyone, I started out with Colombian boas and graduated to Hog Islands, Dumerils, Argentines, etc. At the time, these were the most affordable and readily available.
In the late '90s I met a man by the name of Rob Tudehope, and after many many hours of conversations via the telephone, he and I became good friends. His philosophies on locality boas sparked an overwhelming interest with me. I decided to sell my Colombians, Hog Islands, Argentines, and a few others to concentrate on True Redtail boas. Over the next few years, I collected every locality I could obtain; Surinames, Guyanas, Peruvians, Brazilians, Trinidads, Venezuelans and Bolivian Amarali.
I later realized that I needed to concentrate my breeding efforts on two or three localities. So, I decided to specialize in Peruvian and Brazilian Redtails, and Bolivian as well as Brazilian Amarali. These boas are not legally imported, so their availability from the wild is very limited. Over the last five years, I have produced all of the localities mentioned above, excluding the Brazilian Amarali. Although, we are expecting a clutch of these in 2004.
