Established in 1998, Big News Network is a global news agency, licensed as such by Dubai Media City, a news content distributor and publisher.
The group began in 1998 with the establishment of its signature site Big News Network.com, and development of subsequent sites began in 1999. Today Big News Network controls stand-alone news portals devoted to each of the prominent countries and cities in the world, each region, each U.S. state, and an array of other topical news categories. The network operates the News.Net directory of sites and more than 100 eNewspapers through Mainstream Media and Midwest Radio Network respectively.
Big News Network has its headquarters in Dubai, in Dubai Media City, a regional media hub for the Middle East and North Africa, and has offices in Sydney, Australia. Its extensive server infrastructure is located in Toronto, Canada. Dubai Media City opened in January 2001 and now is home to a host of global and regional media companies including CNN, The Associated Press, the BBC, and Reuters among others. The city provides an environment for media networks and associated groups to operate with collective synergy and freedom, with other benefits such as networking opportunities, venue availability, industry building programmes and government services.
