When you buy a bird from Bignest Aviary you can be assured it is a BIGNEST baby. All of our baby birds are hatched, banded and handfed here at Bignest Aviary. We do not purchase baby birds from other aviaries and resell them. Bringing babies into the nursery from other aviaries and mixing them with our babies could cause serious health problems. If just one baby carried a disease from another aviary it would be devastating
We do not have outside hand feeders taking babies away from Bignest to hand feed. We NEVER take our babies to bird marts and expose them to other birds. Our babies are abundantly weaned to Roudybush pellets, fruits, and vegetables. They are introduced to solid foods while still quite young.
We are very proud of our African Grey & Macaw breeding program. Many of our breeding pairs were hatched, raised and paired right here at Bignest. We do not sell all of our babies for pets to assure we will have good breeding stock in the future. We hold back baby birds yearly for future breeders. We have found that pairing young Greys at weaning and placing them in a breeder flight in the same area as adult breeders makes good young producing pairs.
