Title

Foot Travel - Provides Fully Supported Thru-Hikes of the Appalachian Trail

Description

I was rock climbing (in the pre-climbing shoe era) and hiking throughout the southern Appalachians. I have also done some caving, mountain biking, and paddling, but long distance hiking is what I've done the most of. My trail name is "Macon Tracks", and I guess I have covered over 7000 miles along the Appalachian Trail. I have also hiked Vermont’s Long Trail three times "end-to-end". To help support this habit I spent six years working with groups of all ages at Hemlock Overlook Outdoor Education Center at George Mason University. While at Hemlock, I met many hiking notables. I also helped out in the AT seminars held by Warren Doyle and had the opportunity to help with some of Warren’s expedition hikes. I then moved to North Carolina, where I continued to work in the outdoor education field. For almost four years I was a field staff and shift leader at Camp Woodson, a year-round therapeutic wilderness program for juvenile delinquents.

Working at all these different outdoor programs has enabled me to receive extensive training from Project Adventure, Outward Bound, and other programs.

I have been certified as a Wilderness First Responder, a Lifeguard, and in CPR. I also have a commercial bus driver’s license.
