Title

Birmingham Jaycees - Leadership Through Community Service

Description

The Birmingham Junior Chamber of Commerce (Jaycees) was first organized in 1920. The Jaycees have been very involved in the Birmingham community since that time. In 1926 The Birmingham Jaycees were instrumental in leading the charge to have Leigon Field built. The Jaycees have also been deeply involved with the struggle to keep Vulcan standing watch over the city, and championed the push for what is now The Birmingham International Airport.

In addition to the visible landmarks of the Magic City, The Birmingham Jaycees have also worked on a personal level to help those less fortunate. Each year, The Jaycees, along with corporate and private sponsors, provide coats, clothes, Christmas toys, food, and school supplies to deserving children.

But the physical comforts that most of us can take for granted are not the only thing that the Birmingham Jaycees try to provide. We have an annual Easter Egg hunt, and other fun things to do. Besides the charitable efforts, we also provide valuable training opportunities for our members. Management, communication, and indivdual development skills training are available.
