Excerpted from the website:

Dan Savage was born and raised on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. He was taught the game of basketball by his father and taught to love the game from his older brother Pat. After a fabulous high school career, Dan attended Becker College on a basketball scholarship. In his second year at Becker, Dan was named team captain of the nationally ranked Hawks. When his college career ended, Dan dove right into the world of coaching. His first stop was where his playing days began, Bourne High School. Dan would coach the girl’s basketball team for 6 seasons. After compiling a record of 71 wins vs. 21 losses, Dan took his coaching talents to Las Vegas. In no time at all his talents were recognized by some of the games greatest minds. Joe "Jelly Bean" Bryant, father of LA LAKER superstar Kobe Bryant, offered Dan an assistant coaching job in the professional ranks. Dan raised his game over the next few years by being named head coach of several Minor League teams. His most notable coaching accomplishment was a record setting game in 2007 where the Las Vegas Stars of the IBL, led by Coach Savage, scored and unbelievable 206 points in a regulation game. After working with such players as Anthony Peeler (LA Lakers), Marcus Banks (Phoenix Suns), Tyrone Nesby (Washington Wizards), Dajuan Tate (Leading Scorer in Minor Leagues) and Dennis Rodman, Coach Savage has decided to give back all he has learned over the years. Beyond Basketball is a creative way to reach out to today’s student athletes and use the power of athletics to show kids the importance of leading a well rounded life. Beyond Basketball will open doors for some and give guidance to those who are in need. 2007-08 will prove to be an exciting year both on and off the court. If you would like to learn more about how you can help with the mission of Beyond Basketball, contact Dan Savage at info@beyondbasketball.com.
