Battle of the Books is a fun and challenging reading incentive program for students in grades four through six. The program is voluntary and encourages students to explore new books. Students read from a pre-selected list of books drawn from the Young Reader's Choice and Sasquatch Awards nominee lists. They then form teams and compete in a bowl-style competition against other teams at their school. The winning team from each elementary goes on to participate in the district competition.
