The Buddhist statues in the monastery replicate the affluent cultural heritage of the Tibetans. The prayer hall and temple is quite irresistible, as too are the immense gold statues of Buddha. Another attention-grabbing spot is Honnamana Kere, a serene lake in Coorg where you can get pleasure from boating and fishing in the serene ambience of nature and immerses you in the beauty of the surreal backdrop. Nisargadhama is an attractive island off the state highway, 2 km from Kushalanagar town and 28 km from Madikeri. The island, surrounded by the Cauvery River, can be accessed by walking across a hanging bridge which is a very exhilarating experience. It’s surrounded with thick foliage of bamboo groves, sandalwood and teak trees. An added excitement is the Barapole River, which has some thrilling stretches to raft through rapids for all the white river rafting lovers. Additionally, Coorg has three wildlife sanctuaries – the Talakaveri, Pushpagiri and Brahmagiri Wildlife Sanctuaries- and one national park, the Nagarhole National Park.
