The staff of Benladner.com would like to take a few moments to clarify our past, present and future as it relates to our coverage of campus events, university policy and our continuing mission to serve and inform the AU community.
While we acknowledge that some consider our past to be controversial, we hope that this letter will make clear to our loyal readers, the university administration and the entire AU community as to who we are, what we do and what we intend our mission to be.
First and foremost, the Web site is indeed named after American University President Benjamin Ladner. Our project originally intended to lower the opportunity costs for students to gain access and information about the University and the community. This included information about President Ladner's job requirements, salary figures and accomplishments in his more than eight years as president. We quickly realized however, that our site meant much more to AU than just facts, figures and photos of President Ladner.
