Title

Heathers Belly Dance

Description

It is thought that women developed belly dance to aid pregnancy and birth, and to help the new mother after the birth with physical and emotional benefits. I teach and perform in Wiltshire.

About Heather

Dance has always been a part of my life from Ballet classes at the age of 2, tap and modern until age 14 when I took up Ballroom and Latin American, attaining up to Gold level in both dances. Having tried many othe forms of dance from Line dance to Disco, I found Egyptian Belly Dance. My daughter first started classes with Hazel Kayes and I was so captured by the beauty and magic of the dance, I had to try it myself. This was 9 years ago and I am now obsessed, having taken to it as the most natural dance I have ever done. I have had an interest in Eastern music for a long time and as I have said, I have been lucky enough to learn more about Arabic music from an Arabic musician.

I have taught Belly Dance for 7 years, drawing on my knowledge of yoga from my practice of this art over the last 20 years+ and my general interest in health and fitness. I am trained as a psychiartic nurse and this helps me understand the physical and emotional needs of students. I am a member of MADN, Mosiac Arabic Dance Network. I am also a member of WADA, Wessex Arabic Dance Association and have been a member of the committee in the past. I am also now interested in Burlesque which is closley related to belly dance.
