BEK Communications Cooperative, founded in 1952, is a multi-faceted telecommunications company headquartered in Steele, North Dakota. We provide voice and data services to approximately 6000 customers throughout 6 counties in south-central North Dakota. Our focus is to provide quality communications services to our customers at a reasonable price.

BEK is a “cooperative” type of business. In a cooperative, the customers are the owners. BEK’s member-owners elect representation to the ten-person board of directors which guides the progress of the company. The members are rewarded for doing business with the company by earning capital credits. The capital credits are used by the company to fund investments and upgrades in the facilities and equipment to provide advanced telecommunications services to the members. After a period of time, these capital credits are paid out to the members through a general distribution.
