Beinfield Architecture PC is a full-service architectural firm founded in 1983 by Bruce Beinfield AIA, with offices located in the heart of historic South Norwalk, Connecticut. We have earned numerous awards over the years for our residential, commercial, interior design, and urban renewal work.
As architects practicing in New England we have been drawn to the timelessness and essential meaning found in the stark, simple, patterned forms of early American architecture. Ours is an architecture of distilled images. Our buildings often embody a childlike simplicity, with images that are intended to express a dreamlike, yet familiar, quality where objects and scale are slightly skewed and suggestively distorted. We strive to transform the ordinary into the exceptional. We combine conformist and subversive elements, engendering interplay between order and upheaval. We strive to make quiet buildings that fit into the landscape as if they were always there, but at the same time are filled with energy and life. We endeavor to create primal, transcendent images that emerge from a collective consciousness, our shared mythical memories and recollections of our childhood.
Our residential practice is aimed at uncovering each client's romantic notions of "home". We are interpreters of not only our clients' needs but also of their dreams. We neither judge this material for architectural "correctness" nor negate what is not in vogue. In the design of a house we examine the everyday rituals and routines of those who will dwell there, so that we may design places for serenity, activity, solitude and joy. Clients' dreams, memories and fantasies provide the raw materials from which solutions are forged.
