Bear Mountain Terriers

Description

Hello, Welcome to Bear Mountain Terriers home of National and Regional Specialty winning American Staffordshire Terriers, we are Charlie and Kim.

There is a combined thirty-two years of experience that makes up our Bear Mountain Terriers. We are committed to producing the best quality dogs of this special breed. We are members of the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of America and the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of Greater Los Angeles. Charlie has also served as past vice president of the American Staffordshire Terrier Club of Riverside & San Bernandino. We both enjoy sharing our ideas and experiences with fellow breeders and newcomers alike. Having handled many of the terrier breeds, Charlie is able to help any newcomer with their presentation of the AST. Kim has been working as an Animal Health Technician for thirteen years and brings to our dogs all the latest updates on care, medicine and nutrition. She has conducted breed seminars with the Los Angeles and the San Diego County Judges Workshops. She also has an active interest in obedience.

Our bloodline is based on the Ruffian Line. Which is one of the top winning bloodlines to date. The Ruffian line has produced the all time top producer of champions in Ch. Tryarr Diamondback Redbolt, and one of the Top Winning show dogs in the history of the breed in Ch. Ruffian Red Rock of Har-Wyn. The Ruffian line has won at all levels: including All Breed Best in Shows, National Specialties, Regional Specialties and Obedience titles. We bred our foundation bitch Ch. Bear Mountain Echo to Ch. Sindelar's Hawk and produced three champions. Their daughter Ch. Bear Mountain Tiana, CD, OFA, CGC, ROH made history by winning best of winners, and high in trial at the National Specialty in 1991. This was the first and the only time that this has been accomplished. Ch. Bear Mountain Phoenix, a littermate to Tiana, attained his championship at 10 1/2 months of age at the Great Western Terrier Specialty by going Winners Dog. Then two years later he won the stud dog class. Phoenix has produced multiple specialty winners. Most notably his daughter, Ch. Imperial Bear Mountain Rising Sun. Sunni finished her championship in style by winning Best in Sweepstakes and going Best of Winners at the Great Western Terrier Specialty (Sunni's sister went BOS). Sunni went on to become the #1 bitch in '92 & '93, her wins include multiple BOB's Group Placements and winning BOS in back to back National Specialties along with a Register of Merit in 1992. Sunni's daughter CH. Bear Mountain Shady Lady, not to be beat out by her mother, was awarded BOS in Sweeps at the Great Western Terrier Specialty in 1996 and BOS over several specials for a 5 point major. The Winners dog and Best of Winners that same day was also a Sunni grandson.
