History
The idea for starting Blue Dragon began in late 2002, when a small group of men and women working in Hanoi began teaching English to several shoeshine boys they met on the street. This simple endeavour quickly developed into regular classes in maths, yoga and art in addition to English. Weekly football games for over 40 children soon became an important weekly event. From these spontaneous beginnings, the needs of children began to become more apparent and pressing. To better meet these needs, and to mobilise the goodwill of volunteer helpers, the idea for the Blue Dragon Children’s Foundation was born.
Our goals
In our work with poor children, we aim to meet their immediate needs, such as nutrition, clothing, and care, while creating opportunities for them to escape the cycle of poverty through education and training.
How is Blue Dragon Different?
There are many charities working all around the world, including in Vietnam. Blue Dragon's philosophy differs in that we are working intensively with smaller groups of children, helping to find or create long term, practical solutions to the poverty or difficult circumstances that children are in.
