Description
BCD Systems, Inc. was incorporated in the state of Delaware on August 24, 1979. BCD purchased a Burroughs B80 mini-computer and began providing business services such as accounts receivable processing, Medicare billing and inventory control reporting. We also began processing mailing lists for various customers.
BCD became an Altos Computer Systems dealer in the early 1980's. Our staff of three people was busy with computer installations, business services and the growing direct mail part of the business. By then we had acquired a Pitney Bowes folder, a two-station inserter and various equipment for sealing, metering and affixing labels.
Things changed a bit in 1987. We moved from our 500 square foot office to a 1200 square foot office at 3403 Lancaster Pike. The B80 was sold because all of our business service and mailing list processing had moved to the Altos computers. We purchased a Cheshire labeling machine, additional direct mail equipment and our first PC with a laser printer so that we could print mail-merge letters. By this time direct mail processing was well over half of our business.
