Bates E & E Supplies was established in 1969 by Fred Bates, former sales manager at Bach-Simpson Ltd. of London Ontario. He started with the old Wilbac line of automotive test equipment and then established himself as a stocking distributor of Simpson and Wilbac panel meters and accessories along with Simpson Test Equipment such as the 260 and the 635 and the TS111.
