- Basic Function was formed in 2003, but the early beginnings of Basic Function stem back to 1997 when the creator of Basic Function, Mickey and Dave, met in high school. After the huge success of their first collabaration together, Free Refills Magazine, they were eager to learn more about Design, Print, Motion, Programming, and new media. After graduating college and landing high ranking positions in their respective fields, Mickey, Dave, and new recruit Diana, decided they wanted to create once again... Basic Function was born.
