Description
The Barton Electronic Network (BEN) is part of a centre of excellence in Barton-upon-Humber. The centre offers a range of multimedia inititiatives aimed primarily at businesses in and around Barton whilst also acting as a focus for local community groups. This project is being co-managed by North Lincolnshire council and is currently being produced by Linx Visual Media.
This project is needed in Barton to help stimulate entrepreneurial activity and develop the Telematics Industry in the town. With a low skills base in hi-tech specialisms, Barton requires funding support to develop an Information Technology [IT] niche market through projects like BEN.
This project is a means of bringing Barton into the global arena, via the Internet. As a high profile scheme, BEN will be viewed as a resource that can be actively marketed and widely used by businesses and residents of Barton and visiting tourists.
