Description
BARC's mission is to provide safe haven for homeless animals and find permanent, loving homes for these animals. The animals in our care receive quality food, shelter, and medical attention. We meet the needs of homeless animals through the assistance of dedicated volunteers, revenues generated from the success of our pet supply business, and from private donations.
The Brooklyn Animal Resource Coalition (BARC) is a 501c3 not-for-profit, no-kill, privately funded animal shelter, located in Williamsburg, Brooklyn. Established in 1987, BARC receives no subsides from the city, state, or federal government.
Our 2004 Dog Show and Animal Parade was covered by Block Magazine. The award-winning Brooklyn Rail has written an article on BARC and the No-Kill Movement. BARC has also been mentioned in online articles from Salon.com (on the role of Web sites in adopting homeless pets), the New York Daily News covered our Annual Art Auction, the theater circular Playbill covered Broadway Barks, and Billburg (for a local experience of our store and shelter).
