Being the leader in quality is a common goal throughout the seafood industry. However, Bama takes quality to another level. We have a full staff of Quality Control personnel who ensure that our product meets the highest level of quality and that every shrimp that leaves our facility is second to none.
Bama was one of the first United States companies to institute a multi-species HACCP plan in the early nineties and we continue to stay significantly ahead of the seafood industry’s baseline quality requirements. Bama is also fully compliant with the Public Health Security and Bioterrorism Preparedness and Response Act of 2002 and our plant is inspected annually by the Food and Drug Administration. In addition, we contract two full-time USDC inspectors who act as a third party review team for us, inspecting the plant and our products routinely and continuously. Over 85% of the product we produce is packed USDC Grade A. Over 95% is packed USDC Grade A equivalent or better. Bama packs Barry Amendment compliant product and is proud to have never failed a DSCP Audit. Bama’s Quality Control department is staffed by personnel with advanced degrees in Zoology and Marine Biology.
