Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency AzerTAj is a leading news agency of the Republic, and the only state source of official information for local and foreign mass media.
Founded on the 1st of March in 1920 by the Government of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic, AzerTAj since then has been functioning under different names. After Azerbaijan's regaining its state independence, the Agency has restored its historical name. By the Decree of 3 March 1995 issued by President of Azerbaijan Republic, our national leader Heydar Aliyev, AzerTAj was named State Telegraph Agency under The Cabinet of Ministers, and by the Decree of 17 January 2000 - Azerbaijan State Telegraph Agency.
On a 24-hour basis, AzerTAj widely covers activities of power structures of the country, as well as disseminate reliable information about socio-political, economic, cultural, sports, health, ecological and other developments in Azeri, Russian and English languages.
