About
Axodys is the weblog that I have maintained off and on since late January of 1999. I was originally inspired by early webloggers like Cameron Barrett and Dave Winer along with an urge to experiment with html and the web in general. Back then there was no weblog software and everything had to be hand coded so it’s not too surprising that after several months of daily blogging I began to lose steam around the end of June. By July I was spending the majority of time on other interests and Axodys became dormant.
I started to get interested in Axodys again by early Fall of 1999, but it wasn’t until Blogger appeared in October and I blogger-ized that I began posting regularly again. Blogger was completely revolutionary at the time because it allowed me to easily update my weblog from anywhere via the web. It was now so fun and painless to post to Axodys that I made sure to update almost every single day (sometimes more than once). As the months passed, more of people discovered the power of Blogger and caught the blogging bug. The folks behind Pyra became blogging celebrities among the rapidly growing Blogger using community.
Unfortunately as Blogger’s popularity soared their backend began to run into scaling and performance related problems. I stayed loyal to the groundbreaking service for another year and a half, but finally in May of 2001 I got tired of Blogger’s slow response times and decided to go with a newer and more powerful piece of weblog software created by Noah Grey called Greymatter.
