This year Avon celebrates its 50th anniversary as a global leader in charity support and renews its commitment to improving the lives of women with a special focus on the issue of breast cancer. Avon's charity work extends worldwide and this milestone anniversary will be celebrated with the 'Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer'. Across the globe Avon will be holding events throughout October to fundraise, raise awareness, educate or all three!
The Walk Around the World for Breast Cancer will connect more than 40 Avon breast cancer events taking place in October with the Global Connection Ribbon Tour. As part of the tour, a Global Connection Ribbon will be passed from a local breast cancer survivor in one Avon country, to a local breast cancer survivor in the next Avon country. The Global Connection Ribbon represents the shared connection to the breast cancer cause and the commitment to eradicate this disease. The Global Connection Ribbon will begin its global journey on 2 October in New York City and after travelling around the world will complete its global journey in New York at the Avon Foundation Gala on 25 October, where selected breast cancer survivors from around the world will be honoured.
To mark this special milestone, Avon UK launched the Celebrating Life Awards and on 13 October, recognised those who have shown relentless and continuous support to those with breast cancer and breast cancer charities and in doing so, have joined us in our plight to eradicate breast cancer for good. The Awards ceremony took place in Westminster, hosted by Delyth Morgan, former Chief Executive of Breakthrough Breast Cancer who is now a Peer in the House of Lords.
