This website began from Shane Pennignton's original site that was and still is hosted on Geocites. The Website is http://www.geocities.com/Pentagon/4602/ and like Shane said on the original site "This site is dedicated to reuniting former students of Aviano, Italy HS. Most of us feel that these were some of our greatest memories and experiences of a life that few people get to live. Some would even say that we became family. Many former students have submitted their personal information. Please be considerate of this fact and use the available source intelligently." Shane ran and hosted the site for a considerable length of time, and decided that it was time to take it to the next level. He then went ahead and purchased the domain name of http://www.avianohs.com and pursued to migrate the existing site over to the newly hosted domain. We all know how busy our lives can get, and Shane started to feel the strain of everything, and eventually started to lose the interest that he once had for the site. The domain of avianohs.com came up for domain renewal, and time slipped, causing the domain to go into remission and de-registered. People were still going to the existing Geocities site, but Geocities changed guestbook scripts for its users. The new Geocities guestbook script would only allow certain length messages to be posted, and truncate the rest of the text. I contacted Shane and Manny and talked to them about this. We all agreed that the site needed new direction and someone that could get it up and running again. I agreed to be that person and also agreed that the third attempt at the website would be almost 100% dynamic, and run and maintain itself. Almost every process on avianosaints.com is scripted and self creating, even the menu tree is inserted on the fly and can be changed from just one file. This makes web site maintenance very easy and takes little time of someone that has a busy life. I then registered the domain avianosaints.com because avianohs.com was in a take over status from the registrar for slipping on its re-registration process. In a hurry, I created a basic bland website to get the content online. The website sat pretty still for about 1 year, and I kind of lost interest with it too. This is when I decided that something had to be done, and get the site finished, all scripts installed that I felt most people wanted and be done with it. I think that it is close to that point. Here are some facts about this site. It cost $25.00 a month to run, and so far, myself and only a handful of others are the only ones that have paid for the hosting fees. I am allowed 1.5Gigs of web space of which I am using about 550 megabytes. I am allowed 30 gigabytes of transfer per month, and will never get even close to exceeding that. I would like to think that people in the future would like to contribute either time, yearbooks, or hosting fees to help run this site so that it stays around for as long as anyone wants it.
