- The Aurora-Adams County Medical Society (originally named the Adams County-Aurora Medical Society) was officially chartered as a component society of the Colorado State Medical Society (now, Colorado Medical Society) at its Annual meeting on September 11, 1959. Before the A-ACMS was chartered, physicians in Aurora were members of Arapahoe or Denver Medical Societies. The State Society was located at 835 Republic Building in Denver. The A-ACMS had no office; its records were retained by the elected Secretary for his/her term in office until about 1966 when Mrs. Dorothy Lease was hired to maintain these records, manage membership, and keep an accurate accounting of the Society funds. Mrs. Lease resigned in late 1971 and Mrs. Donna Foss started working for the Society on January 1, 1972. Donna has maintained the society office in her home since that date.
