Thanks for stopping by my little spot on the web, I'm Leslie and I'm the one who does everything you see here. From web design, to sewing and soap making, to getting stuff shipped out, it's a one woman business. Atta Girl has been a little dream of mine for some time, and now as it becomes a reality, I'm more and more excited about the possibilities of what I can do with my creativity. I am indebted to all the friends and family who have encouraged me to do this and those who have helped me along the way.
I first started sewing in 1998, I had some time to spend at home before heading off to a summer semester with the the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS). My mom was kind enough to let me use her old Kenmore sewing machine to make a skirt and a dress, and from there I was hooked. For my birthday that next year, she got me a Bernina 1008 sewing machine which I now use for all my straight stitching. I also use a Babylock Imagine serger, so now all of my seams are double stitched and overlocked for a durable professional finish.
My goal is to create high quality, unique items that are fun to wear and comfortable too. I put a lot of time into designing and creating each item. I use high quality fabrics that you won't find anywhere else. All seams are serged or double stitched, hems are turned up twice and topstitched where necessary. For my soaps, I use high quality vegetable oils, fragrance oils and essential oils, I do not use animal fats.
