The Applied Science University has earned its license and accreditation from the Ministryof Education according to the decree issued by the Minister’s Council No. (WD 140/2004) dated 5th July 2004 making it one of the first private universities in the Kingdom of Bahrain to teach in both Arabic and English. The ASU ever since, been striving to became one of the leading universities not only in the Kingdom of Bahrain but in the entire Gulf region. The University aims at molding human resources by reinforcing theoretical knowledge with the necessary practical skills required for career success in the respective disciplines chosen by its students. By keeping abreast with the developments in academics, science and technology, the University, assures its students a high quality learning experience, providing them with the leading edge required to excel in today’s competitive and global environment. All of which culminates into the University’s objective of creating graduates, well-equipped and capable of facing the challenges and competition in their professional careers whereby contributing to self development and development of the Arabian Gulf community in particular and the entire Arab world in general. The total number of registered students in the summer semester of the academic year 2008/2009 was 1229. 382 students graduated from the university by the end of the academic year 2008/2009, 35 of whom obtained their post graduate degrees. The university has a team of 57 qualified academic staff of whom 9 are part time lecturers. The ASU educational system is based on the American system of credit hours. In addition, the University deems it compulsory for its students to complete a certain number of mandatory hours of internship for all the programs offered by the university, before they can graduate in their selected disciplines. Applied Science University in the Kingdom of Bahrain prides itself in its various prestigious affiliations with prominent educational institutions from across the region like Mu’tah University in Jordan, Helwan University in Cairo and the Royal Police Academy in Bahrain. Such an association adopts the form of an academic cooperation, while the ASU continues to maintain its status as an independent educational institution in terms of its colleges and its license as granted by the Ministry of Education in Bahrain. The University currently offers 11 undergraduate and 7 postgraduate programs all of which are approved by the Ministry of education in Bahrain. Programs are taught in both English and Arabic. ترتبط جامعة العلوم التطبيقية في مملكة البحرين بجامعة مؤتة بجناحيها المدني والعسكري في المملكة الأردنية الهاشمية ارتباط موائمة علمية ولكنها تشكل وحدة تعليمية مستقلة تماماً في كادرها التعليمي وترخيصها الممنوح من وزارة التربية والتعليم بالبحرين. وتسعى الجامعة لأن تكون موئلا للعلم والفضيلة والتميز العلمي والعملي عن طريق إعداد كوادر بشريه ملتزمة بقيمنا الإجتماعيه ومؤهله بصوره متميزة نظرياً وعملياً لتواكب التطورات العلمية المختلفة وبما سيسهم بشكل فعال في تنمية وتطوير المجتمع الخليجي خاصة، والمجتمع العربي عامة، والنهوض به عالمياً واقتصادياً واجتماعياً وحضارياً. ولقد حصلت الجامعة على ترخيص من مجلس الوزراء رقم ود 140/2004 المـؤرخ في 5 يوليو 2004 م لتكون من أوائل الجامعات الخاصة المرخص لها بمزاولة التدريس باللغتين العربية والانجليزية في مملكة البحرين. وقد بني نظام التدريس في جامعة العلوم التطبيقية على نظام الساعات المعتمدة (النظام الأمريكي) وعلى ربط النظرية بالتطبيق في جميع التخصصات التي تدرسها، وخصصت الجامعة للتدريب والتطبيق ساعات معتمدة إلزامية لا يتخرج الطالب اذا لم يحصل عليها. هذا وتمنح جامعة العلوم التطبيقية الدرجات العلمية التالية: 1- البكالوريس في الفروع التالية: 1. كلية العلوم الإدارية وتشمل تخصصات في المحاسبة، وإدارة الأعمال، ونظم المعلومات الإدارية،العلوم المالية والمحاسية،العلوم السياسية. 2. كلية الحقوق وهي تعتبر من الصروح التعليمية في مملكة البحرين. 3. كلية الآداب والعلوم وتشمل علم الحاسوب، والتصميم الجرافيكي، والتصميم الداخلي. 4. عمادة البحث العلمي والدراسات العليا وتضم أقسام التدريب والتعليم المستمر والدراسات العليا. 2- الماجستير: 1. كلية العلوم الإدارية وتشمل تخصصات، إدارة الأعمال، إدارة الموارد البشرية، نظم المعلومات الإدارية، والمحاسبة والتمويل. 2. كلية الحقوق وتشمل تخصصات القانون والقانون التجاري. 3. كلية الآداب والعلوم وتشمل تخصص علم الحاسوب.
