- Joe and Lorraine look forward to welcoming you to Artemisia and to the city of Barga, which you are sure to love as much as they do. Barga is where Joe’s grandfather was born, passing his beautiful home, Bellavista, down to his family, including Joe’s papa, Mario (renowned locally for his beautiful mandolin playing). Joe’s mamma, Costanza, grew up just across the valley in the picturesque village of Cardoso, seen when standing near the cherry tree and rosemary bushes in Bellavista’s garden.
- Lorraine – from Glasgow and a veteran of many activity holidays and bouts of international travel – joined Joe – a lifelong visitor to Barga and the Garfagnana with family and friends – to combine their experiences and interests in bringing Artemisia to life.
