More commonly referred to as town, this is the triangle bounded by Uhuru Highway, the railway and the Nairobi River. The city centre is divided into two distinct halves by Moi Avenue, with the area to the east being distinctly poorer and more crowded. Insecurity and congestion has caused many organisations to move out the city centre and many shoppers avoid it. Nonetheless, the city centre remains the largest shopping and office area in the city and is its public transportation hub.
