- Appalachian Naturals started as a way to share with our children their mountain heritage. Before there were stores, factories and automated machinery, our ancestors passed on the knowledge of how to make what was needed to live a self sufficient life. Remembering grandmother Nova making handmade soap in a large kettle, we decided to show our children the art of soapmaking. To her legacy we added essential oils, cocoa butter, vitamin E and pure plant extracts. Similar to Goldilocks we kept developing until we got it "just right". We shared our creation with our friends and neighbors and soon the requests for more became a full time labor of love.
