Anvil shooting (also known as anvil blasting or anvil firing) is a sport that involves launching anvils into the air with black powder. The setup usually involves several elements. It starts with a heavy, thick, metal base plate with enough surface area to place the first anvil, called the base, on to prevent it from sinking into the ground when the charge explodes. Onto this base plate goes the first anvil (mentioned previously) in upside down position.
