- Our experience in local tourism began in 1979 when a career change led to me becoming the Ferry Master on the Daintree River providing access into the Daintree National Park and Cape Tribulation rainforest. This was at the very beginning of nature based tourism in the Daintree, Port Douglas and Cape Tribulation regions.
- A further six years were then spent on the Daintree River as a launch master and naturalist guide operating a cruise boat for Daintree Wildlife Safaris. The 10 meter catamaran the "Kingfisher" was an ideal vessel for showing visitors the birdlife, the crocodiles and for interpreting the rainforest and mangrove ecosystems of this magnificent tidal river.
