- Background information
- The Australian National Council on AIDS, Hepatitis C and Related Diseases (ANCAHRD) was established on 8 November 1999 as the Federal Government’s peak advisory body on Australia’s response to and management of these diseases. ANCAHRD members were appointed by the then Minister for Health and Aged Care on the basis of their individual expertise and ability to provide independent and expert advice.
- ANCAHRD was successor to two former councils, the Australian National Council on AIDS and Related Diseases (ANCARD) and the earlier Australian National Council on AIDS (ANCA). ANCAHRD was dissolved on 19 September 2003, and has since been replaced with the Ministerial Advisory Committee on AIDS, Sexual Health and Hepatitis (MACASHH).
