- Anasazi Siberians began quite by accident in 1994. Our Rough Collie that we had for several years had gotten to the point where her quality of life was poor. She had to be put to sleep and we began our search for a replacement pure breed to go with our pound puppy. We considered all the popular breeds at the time and felt that none was exactly right. About the same time Walt Disney produced the film “Iron Will”. Sandy fell in love with the breed and told Earl that was the breed she wanted. She did not know at the time that Earl had wanted one since he saw his first one in a passing car seat in the late 60’s. The search was on to find a Siberian breeder. Like many beginners we went to the newspaper and made our choice. Delighted with our new friend we saw that there was an all Siberian dog show nearby. We had to go watch. It looked simple enough and soon began to look for a show dog. We were finally put in touch with Kathleen Kanzler of Innisfree Kennels and we got our first show dog. This was fun! We figured we could get another dog so that we could both show at the same time and our unintentional kennel was born.
