- From 1994 through 2002, an amputee golf tournament was held at South Park Country Club in Louisville Kentucky. This annual tournament, renamed the Amputee Tournament Players Championship in 1999, was organized and run by a Louisville based committee headed by Alan Gentry. Late in 2002, Alan was looking for a new avenue for the tournament and asked Henry Brown, an amputee golfer and Shelby County resident, if he was interested. Henry and Mark Calvert took up the challenge, and in 2003 this event was officially moved to Shelbyville Kentucky.
