AMIS is licensed as a Property & Casualty agent and broker and as a Surplus/Excess Lines broker in all 50 states. One of our most important goals is to provide a high value to our customers by structuring our niche insurance programs to custom fit their wants, needs, and risk tolerance at the most competitive price. We have established an extensive network of agents and brokers across the United States so that consumers can use a local independent agent or broker if they desire. We work closely with our agents and brokers to train and equip them to sell our niche insurance programs effectively. AMIS is one of the fastest growing family-owned and operated Surplus/Excess Line agencies in the United States. Our key personnel have been in the insurance industry since 1965. Bill West, founder, has been in the insurance business since 1965 and has a background in insurance claims adjusting, third-party administration, private investigations, private security, and patrol operations. He has handled third-party administration for clients like Rockwell International and adjusted insurance claims for Cuna Mutual throughout California. Nancy West, co-founder, has been in the insurance industry since 1968 and has a background in personal lines as an assistant underwriter and rater. She joined Bill in the business in 1973, and they have worked together ever since. Bill and Nancy's daughter, Michelle Nowell, joined AMIS in 1990, and became a partner in 2003. She is in charge of the Surplus/Excess Lines tax filings for all 50 states, working closely with each insurance company to accomplish this. At AMIS , we are committed to providing quality technical assistance for all of our consumers, agents, and brokers nationwide.
