- American Custom Cam was established in 1975 by Joseph Bray Sr. A former tool and die maker turned engine builder had previously been partners in another cam grinding shop for approxamitly ten years prior. American Cam was formed to allow himself the freedom to grind more than just production type work and expand into the performance, racing, vintage, and foreign car markets.
- Today, the company is being carried on by Joseph Bray II who has been with the company since 1980 and continues the tradition of expertise and involvement in as wide and as diverse of projects as his father was.
