- The AMEB exists to provide a graded system of examinations in music, speech and drama, by offering high quality syllabuses, educative services to our teachers, examiners and candidates, and quality publications to the highest editorial standard.
- The AMEB tradition started way back in 1887 at the Universities of Adelaide and Melbourne, emerging in 1918 as a national body. Originally offering music examinations only, Speech and Drama examinations were later added. Today the AMEB is the most widely-used assessment system in these fields of study in Australia.
