About Alpaca Canada: President Address
Congratulations to the members of Alpaca Canada; we have our new division organized, a board elected and we are up and running. We have some directors new to the alpaca industry and some old faces. Your newly elected board is full of energy and enthusiasm and is looking forward to meeting the challenges that lay ahead. You have elected a board that truly represents alpaca producers across our great country, from British Columbia to Nova Scotia. While that is a good thing to have happened, it provided the first challenge to our board….how to choose a meeting time when we span 4 different time zones! Our meetings are scheduled for the last Sunday of each month. If you have an issue that you would like brought to the board's attention make sure you get the information to one of the directors or to Lori at the office early in the last week of the month, so we can get it on the agenda.
Lori May will be working for Alpaca Canada about 50% time in 2006. In other words she will be like a half time employee this year. We have agreed to share her services with CLAA and Llama Canada on a trial basis in an effort to control costs for our initial year of operation. Lori will be keeping track of her time spent working for each of us and we will be reviewing our arrangement in the fall of 2006 or early in the year 2007.
We have many new and exciting projects in the initial development stages that you will be hearing more about as we finalize plans in the coming months. If you are interested in helping your new organization in any way, please contact the board liaison, for the committee you would like to work with. This is your organization and we need your involvement to ensure Alpaca Canada meets or exceeds your needs. We encourage you to be an active participant in this exciting time of growth and evolution in our industry.
