- New York born-and-bred, Alison took up sewing at age 11 while her upbringing transported her from the "Big Apple" to the sunny beaches of California, then back again full circle as an adult to the bohemian enclaves of New York's East Village. Living in the heart of the downtown art and music scene, she rubbed elbows with drag queens and mingled with artists and rock stars as she developed her signature style, rife with echoes of the decade in which she came of age.
