Alexander County is located in the foothills of the Appalachian Mountains and bordered on the south by the Catawba River. We are just north of the city of Hickory, about 60 miles northwest of Charlotte, about 65 miles west of Winston-Salem, just east of Interstate 77, and north of Interstate 40. We are within an hour’s driving distance of skiing in the North Carolina mountains, and about 4 ½ to 5 hours away from the beaches.
