- Alberene® Soapstone is an acid resistant metamorphic rock formed under great heat and pressure some 500 million years ago. The Alberene deposits, located in the foothills of Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains, are the world’s largest, and offer four distinct color "flavors" and application variations. More dense than some granite, it does not absorb liquids; it resists chemicals and wear; is stable to 2300º+ F.; and is non-conductive.
