JOTI is a worldwide event for Scouts & Guides. It grew out of a similar event called Jamboree on the Air (JOTA) which has been running since 1958. The Scouts & Guides set up camps all over the world on the 3rd weekend in October. They then communicate with each other using Amateur Radio. In 1996, some people at JOTA decided to use the Internet as well as radio for more relaible communication. Thus JOTI was born.
