- Alaska Icefield Expeditions was founded by Dan and Chris Turner, who run the oldest operating sled dog tour company in Southeast Alaska. We have been mushers for many years, driving dogs recreationally on camping trips, participating in two Yukon Quest sled dogs races and offering winter and summer tours to visitors to Alaska. During the summer of 1995 we were on special assignment doing a two week trek across the Juneau Icefield with famed Japanese adventurer, Joshi Wada. The vast remote reaches of the icefield were incredible and the trip was a great success for the dog teams.
