- 26 years ago, structural engineer Yutaro AKAGI began a love affair with the game of golf. Throughout his creative profession, AKAGI constantly pushed the limits of structural and industrial design while paying careful attention to economic viability and aesthetic aspects in all that he built. This passion transformed into a steely determination to improve the functions of his golf wedges. He read all the literature on club making he could get his hands on and coupled with his penchant for metallurgical sciences, he began to design and hand-make high quality wedges for use on the golf course, for himself. At the time, he made his wedges in a tiny smelting workshop belonging to a relative and he often referred to his wedges as his precision instruments for golf.
